Our Story

Anchored in Experience. Sailing Toward Innovation.

Early Foundations: Discovering the Web

In the 1990s, our founder Deborah Fuzetto built her first static websites and soon landed her first job at a digital agency, gaining hands-on experience in early web development.

In 2001, Deborah launched Fuzetto Web Solutions, creating a simple custom content management system first in ASP, then later migrating it to PHP. During this time, she partnered with Thomas Ferrous on several projects and collaborated with East County Live, helping local businesses get online.

These early years established the foundation of what FWS would become: a practical, problem-solving team committed to building tools that empower clients.

Discovering Drupal: A Turning Point

Deborah was introduced to Drupal in 2005, and everything changed.

Her first Drupal project involved migrating multiple static HTML websites to Drupal 5 — a milestone that sparked a long-term focus on migrations and modernization work.

From there, project after project strengthened our expertise in upgrading organizations from one Drupal version to the next.

Growing FWS Through Long-Term Partnerships

As Deborah’s career expanded, so did FWS.

Beginning in 2007, FWS took on a major long-term partnership with Oregon Soap Company, helping build, maintain, and grow their Drupal-powered retail and wholesale ecommerce presence for more than a decade.

Around the same time, FWS supported Metrowise, maintaining and updating their Drupal site. These partnerships kept FWS active even while Deborah worked full-time at outside agencies, further strengthening our portfolio and expertise.

A Remote-First Business — Even Before It Was Cool

FWS has been remote since the beginning, but in 2012, we took an unconventional turn: running the business from aboard the sailboat s/v Heavy Metal.
From marinas to anchorages up and down the coast, FWS continued building reliable, enterprise-grade sites from anywhere.

Leading Drupal Projects Across Industries

Over the years, Deborah has delivered and led Drupal work for world-class clients, including:

  • National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research (NIH)

  • Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC)

  • Major public-sector migrations for:

    • Cybersecurity & Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA)

    • National Rural Health Resource Center (NRHRC)

    • National Endowment for the Arts (NEA)

    • U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA)

  • Hublot (Swiss luxury brand)

  • Oregon Soap Company (multi-decade partnership)

At FWS, we combine enterprise-grade skill with small-team agility — building sites that are secure, scalable, and beautiful, from backend architecture to the front-end experience.

Our Vision: Shaping the Next Generation of Drupal

Our mission goes beyond building websites. We aim to pass decades of experience on to the next generation to help keep Drupal strong.

Even as AI reshapes the industry, Drupal continues to provide a powerful and flexible framework that integrates AI responsibly — without the limitations of “out-of-the-box” website builders.

We work with college students and recent graduates to give them hands-on experience and help grow the future of the Drupal community.

Our logo was created by Anna Robinson, a student at the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD), reflecting our commitment to supporting emerging talent.
